Big ol' Chet left the light on. Big Ol' Jap in a lighthouse. Big old Jedi Wino.

According to this site, those are all misheard lyrics for Steve Miller's "Jetliner". I think only the last one can actually apply to me.

That's right this drunken Jedi has to get on a plane tonight and head back east. My little cousin, Ryan, is graduating college, the illustrious University of South Carolina. Carmel feels old because she can remember when he was only a College Freshman. I feel old because I remember him as a wee infant with his thumb in his mouth and his index finger in his nose - not much has changed except he now expects me to pick up the bar tab.

Congratulations to the six-toed freak can be sent here and surprising this is not his picture.

There should still be posts here. Probably more than there were in the first part of the week and most definitely involving various problems with air travel, the South or a combination of the two.

Monday Morning Mini-Rants

Lots of things bother me, lots of tiny & inconsequential things. I've made no attempt to keep this a secret. On Monday mornings however, these miniscule assailants come at me in waves, stabbing me with their tiny little knives, killing me in the smallest of increments. (Yes, I know I'm stealing with Henry Rollins there, but I am perfectly ok with that.)

I think Friends is ending this week, but I'm not sure. I wish NBC would advertise the Finale a little. After all these years, the cast really deserves it. Plus, the news media is totally ignoring it. I know it's not as big as deal as Frasier ending, but geez. (On a less sarcastic note, I bet the finale will reveal how Chandler and Joey have keep the Air Conditioning up on High for ten years so the girls would always have hard nipples.) Of course, with both shows off the air, it just means more room for my least favorite form of entertainment - REALITY TV SHOWS.

From eonline.com:
Katrina from the Apprentice, when asked "would you ever pose for Playboy?" Her response was "I would never pose for Playboy, because it contradicts everything I've tried so hard to prove in the business world. I did FHM because it's about confidence, and I did Maxim, which is coming out in June." If you ask me, it takes more confidence to go fully nude. Of course, no one is asking me anything, let alone to bare my 'Good N' Plenties.' Well, except for that one dwarf porn..

A comic book writer, Micah Ian Wright, has revealed that he never was an Army Ranger. I never knew or cared that he made such a claim and I'm actually a fan of the funny books. I guess I should come out and admit that I never was a safety for the Cardinals. Plus, the dwarf porn film was also a hoax. You can soon find my credibility on ebay as well.

A moment on these state quarter things. Bored with the regular old eagle on the back of quarters (or wary to remind citizens that our national symbol is still an endangered species), the Treasury has been making five commemorative quarters every year. Each coin representing a different state. These things started out all right.

My home state of New Jersey had a pretty cool one of George Washington fleeing New Jersey to the more pleasant state of Pennsylvania. (Obviously, George had not yet made the acquaintance of PA's wonderful police force, especially in the Conshohocken area.) However, my personal favorite state quarter is the one for Connecticut. Has that pretty tree on it. No idea what that symbolizes but I like it. However, as we move further down the list of states, well, the designs have started to suck a little ass. Michigan is just a damn map of Michigan.

How many of my tax dollars were spent trying to decide on that masterpiece? But it gets worse.

Arkansas has a big old diamond on it. Don't know what that means, maybe "Arkansas - The South Africa of The South"? Then, the Louisiana coin is just an utter waste.

I personally am a big fan of Louisiana. I've been there more times than I can remember. Literally. Most of the holes in my memory can be directly tied to the state of Louisiana. Their coin celebrates the Louisiana Purchase. Who would want to celebrate that someone, at one time, BOUGHT them?

But there is some good news:

According to eonline.com:
"Dave Chappelle in talks with New Line Cinema to star in Dave Chappelle's Family History of the World, a comedy in which he'd play family members at various points in history and riff on the black experience from biblical times to the present day. The comic is writing the script."
From the company behind The Lord of the Rings, Dave Chappelle as the black Mel Brooks - that is positively genius. GENIUS!
